Investor Spotlight: Founders Circle Capital

This week we are featuring Founders Circle Capital.  We have known some of the founding team members of Founders Circle Capital going back to Tim Barnes’ prior work days at SVB.   

Founded in 2012, Founders Circle is a growth-stage venture firm dedicated to investing in people. They focus on supporting leaders of today's fastest-growing companies as they navigate the transition from product-market fit to hyperscale.

Founders Circle emphasizes "people building" through two main services: flexible capital and a private leadership community known as The Circle.

Founders Circle provides flexible capital tailored to the needs of growth-stage companies. This includes access to primary and secondary financing programs, employee and institutional investor liquidity, and other unique financial structures to support various stages of growth.

Their private leadership community, The Circle by Founders Circle Capital, connects over 600 CEOs and CFOs, fostering peer-to-peer professional development and collaboration. 

Today, Founders Circle Capital is led by Mark Dempster, Founder, and Co-Founders, Ken Loveless, and Mike Jung.

Mark Dempster, a former Marketing Partner at Sequoia Capital, led the brand strategy practice for CKS Partners and worked as a Brand Strategist for Landor Associates before founding Founders Circle Capital.

Ken Loveless, Partner and co-founder at Founders, was previously a Managing Director at SVB, and spent 15 years at Silicon Valley Bank. He developed a multivariate predictive model for identifying top-performing venture-backed companies, which now guides Founders Circle’s investment strategy. 

Mike Jung, formerly a Partner at Panorama Capital, started his venture career in 2003. He has held executive roles at Ask Jeeves and worked as an investment banker at Robertson Stephens and an attorney at Gunderson Dettmer. Mike also founded Alpha, a peer networking organization for founders and CEOs in Silicon Valley. Currently, he is a Partner and co-founder at Founders.

The firm has an impressive portfolio that consists of some of the most renowned names in different sectors, including Airtable, Cohesity, Databricks, Doordash, Docusign, and more.
